The Kingdom Vineyard Church Vision 2026

In September 2026 Jim shared the vision that we believe God has given for Kingdom Vineyard for the next 3 years, that we are called to be “becoming a church that seeks first the Kingdom of God, by being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing what Jesus does.”

KV Vision Sunday - September 13th 2026

Jesus taught: “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven has come near” (Matthew 4:17 NIV), and urged us not to “ …worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For [those who don’t know God] run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31-33)

God has been speaking clearly about KV specifically focussing for this season on Prayer (“Being with Jesus”), Discipleship (“Becoming like Jesus”) and Evangelism (“Doing what Jesus does”), and that in prioritising these things we will be “seeking first the Kingdom of God” (and His right way) for the kingdom of Fife.

And we believe that this is a joyful, hopeful invitation! That God is calling us to a renewed intimate following of Him, and a  fruitfulness in Him, that sees His people prepared for good works in order that His body may be built up, and those who don’t yet know Him can discover and joyfully run into His Kingdom.

Over the coming 3 years we as a church will be prioritising and pressing into these 3 focus areas, seeking first the Kingdom of God practically, by putting our time and resources into things that help us to grow in Prayer, Discipleship and Evangelism.

Prayer (“Being with Jesus”)

“Being with Jesus” is the foundation of our relationship with Him, of course it is!

  • Inviting Him into our everyday lives,

  • choosing to stop our endless hurry and sit with Him,

  • to bring Him our questions and concerns,

  • and to be still and know that He is God,

  • to listen to Him,

  • to get to know the sound of His voice,

  • and practice hearing what He says to us, for ourselves and for those around us.

Yet how easy is it to call oneself a Christian and yet not be with Jesus the Christ? So we are going to be spending dedicated time in autumn 2026 pressing into Prayer.

So, practically, for Kingdom Vineyard, this focus on prayer for will look like:

  • Our sermon series on Sundays for autumn 2026 will be looking at what the Bible teaches about Prayer, and spending time with Jesus, from Luke 11.

  • Our Homegroups will all be going through “the Prayer Practice” course from “Practicing the Way”, with space in our smaller groups to ask and encourage one another how our “being with Jesus” prayer lives are doing.

  • We’ll be highlighting and celebrating our Prayer meetings:

    • We have a short prayer meeting at 10am at the Town Hall every Sunday morning, which you’re invited to!

    • We have online Monthly Prayer meetings hosted by Imogen & Sam,

    • And we have “Prayer & Worship Nights” for intercessory prayer, which have become precious and powerful places of encounter!

  • In Autumn 2026 we’re also holding a week of Prayer and Fasting (Sunday 4th October to Saturday 10th), and inviting all of us (who are able to) to add an element of sacrifice to our prayer, seeking God’s Kingdom with our whole selves.

  • That week of Prayer & Fasting will culminate in a new event we’re launching, called “Hunger Nights”, where we worship and pray and refuse to let go of God until He shows up and His Kingdom breaks in. 

  • A “Day of Prayer” with a Prayer Room on the 25th November, offering a lovely space to be with Jesus as a church family (and if you’d like to help create that space, let us know!).

Discipleship (“Becoming like Jesus”)

It’s an old Vineyard Churches catchphrase that God invites us to “Come as you are, but don’t stay as you are”. We believe that everybody, everybody is warmly invited to come and meet Jesus! And we also believe that God loves us enough not to leave us “as we are”: that there are things from this broken world in all of our lives that God wants to address in order for us to grow in our relationship with Him, and grow more and more into the person He has made us to be. “Becoming like Jesus” looks like becoming more receptive to God our Father’s loving leading, becoming more intentional in pursuing holiness in our own lives, and expecting to be challenged and changed by God’s Holy Spirit and His holy word. 

But (as Jim said when we shared this vision) we’re not hearing God calling us to this like a “telling off”! Instead we received pictures of juicy ripe fruit, of hope and joy and life, of holiness that shines bright, and delights, of old trees being strengthened to stand firm and rejuvenated (those of us who have known the Lord a while finding new strength in our relationship with Him). This is an invitation to more, not the frown of a grumpy judge.

This is a vision of a church sincerely seeking God’s Kingship, His presence received and reflected, in our times together, and our day to day lives too. Of a church family pursuing “holiness”, “discipleship”, and “becoming (by His grace and with His help) like Jesus”.

In the life of KV, practically, this will look like:

  • From January 2027 a sermon series focussed on how we can become more like Jesus. How we can receive, be formed by, and model His holiness.

  • Ensuring that KV’s Homegroups are well positioned to serve as many of us as possible, both in the locations of where we meet, and by looking at how Homegroups support each member of KV in intentionally becoming more like Jesus.

  • We’ll be taking a look overall at the places and processes of discipleship across the church, looking at where we can go deeper on topics of life, theology, training and equipping. (Please feel free to let us know what ideas you have [use the form at the bottom of this page] for this!)


Evangelism (“Doing what Jesus does”)

We believe that God is particularly calling us to proclaim and demonstrate the Kingdom of God, sharing the good news that God’s Kingdom is so close we can reach out and touch Him, and showing that gloriously by giving the prophetic words, healings, and other signs and wonders that show that God is present, is powerful, and loves the people around us enough to bring them into His Kingdom.

This isn’t a new focus for KV, but we’re going to continue pressing into it as Jesus leads us to, stepping out in bold obedience, and seeing His Kingdom come in practical powerful ways!

What will this look like practically for us, The Kingdom Vineyard Church?

  • We’re planning to run another Alpha Course at the beginning of 2027, and you can be praying already about who you might invite to give it a try (or about whether you’d like to help run it!).

  • KV’s Pastoral staff will be looking at the ways that people discover and join our church family, and will be looking to make that as easy as possible to do!

  • We plan to establish a regular rhythm of street evangelism, as a ministry of this church, where at least once per term KV people go out into the streets of North East Fife (not just St Andrews!) to proclaim and demonstrate the Kingdom of God, and help people to discover Jesus.

  • We will ensure that we have a series of invitational spaces built into our church calendar, specifically designed for each of us to invite our friends, family, co-workers to come to, with a “next step” for those who like what they see and want to try more.

  • Our Homegroup leaders will continue planning and leading outreach activities (tell your Homegroup leaders what ideas you have for your group!)

  • Lastly, and most importantly, we want every member of the church to feel more equipped and emboldened to share our faith in our everyday lives, to have a go at sharing the Kingdom of God that we carry, both in proclaiming the Good News that God’s Kingdom has come near, and demonstrating that truth by praying for prophetic words and healings.

That’s where we’re going! As you read this, I wonder if the Lord has caught your attention with any particular point that might be Him inviting you to play a part in making something happen? I’m so mindful that the Lord seems to want all of us to step into our place (a place He has prepared for us), and play our part, not to think that somebody else will step up and “do it for us”. John Mark Comer’s book “Practicing the Way, Be with Jesus, Become like him, Do as he did” is very much in line with what we’ve been hearing (though it’s probably worth saying, KV’s vision isn’t based on this book: these elements of “Prayer, Discipleship & Evangelism” were heard separately to each other or this book, and the book feels like an exciting confirmation rather than the basis of this vision!).

Prayer


Prayer Trio

Not strictly a resource, but an encouragement: who can you invite to join you to form a “Prayer Trio”? To commit to meet regularly to pray for each other? To message each other with prayer requests and encouraging Bible verses, words and pictures? Our very best resource will be God’s Presence, and each other lovingly supporting each other to prioritise Him!

Lectio 365

Lectio365 is an app that provides led prayer times every morning, midday and night, based on a Bible passage and a reflection on it, that can be read on screen or played as an audio. It’s free, and there is even a families/kids app to engage younger prayers too!

24-7 Prayer

The 24-7 Prayer ministry have a huge wealth of free resources that are great for supporting an individual or group going deeper in prayer.

Try Praying

If you’re brand new to praying, “Try Praying” have a free booklet to help get started, and their website addresses questions people often have, “the point” of prayer, and stories from people who have tried praying and seen how it has changed their lives.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer ministry is a way of praying for each other that specifically invites God to bless and become especially present to the person we are praying for. We see accurate prophetic words, and even healings as we pray for each other in this way. To find out more, join us on a Sunday morning and join a Kingdom Vineyard Homegroup, where we practice praying for each other in this way!

Bible Project

The Bible Project have a huge amount of free resources to get to know our Bible better, including: 

  • Reading Plans (Youversion)

  • “Guides” (“Free online Bible Study Lessons”, for every book in our Bible, and for key themes and topics)

  • Classes (free!) - these are an excellent resource, especially for free, for someone who wants to go deeper into their Bibles!


Vineyard Training PATHWAY (Theology) 

The Vineyard Churches (UK & Ireland) movement have a number of resources for those exploring a calling to leadership in ministry, and have multiple video-based courses (£12.99 per month subscription, or module by module, usually £30 each) for those who just want to go deeper in theological study, either as an individual or as a group.

Evangelism

Vineyard MOVEMENT Training

  • “Living a Naturally Supernatural Life” (free!)

  • An article on evangelism (free!) by key early Vineyard Movement leader John Wimber, that shares some of the heart for evangelism in our church movement.

  • Evangelism and Ethnicity (free!): A seminar (online video module with handouts and materials) that is designed to better equip us to approach evangelism and cross-cultural, cross-racial, multi-ethnic witness to our neighbours and our friends.

Kingdom Vineyard Street Evangelism

We next plan to go out into East Fife to offer to pray for people to meet Jesus on 22nd November 2026, join us that Sunday morning for our service and then join us as we go out onto the streets afterward!

POWER EVANGELISM

A particularly Vineyard movement approach to evangelism: we don’t just want to proclaim God’s Kingdom, we hope and ask that He will demonstrate His Kingdom, in power, to those who might come to know Him. Here are a couple of articles and videos that explain that further:
