We need to fix our eyes on Jesus right now, trusting him with the things we don't understand and listening out for when he starts doing something new.
As the Israelites leave Egypt God's provision and guidance are demonstrated through the Passover and we remember His provision and guidance today.
Passover is about Yahweh setting his people free so they can serve and worship Him, and about remembering and celebrating that freedom as we look forward to the future full coming of His Kingdom.
The plagues sent upon Egypt are God's answer to Pharaoh's question "Who is Yahweh, that I should obey him?" They are as much to wake God's people from their sleep as they are to demonstrate his power to their overlords.
This is about Pharaoh's defiance, the Israelites' ingratitude, Moses' trust and obedience and God's grace as he makes clear to us who He is.
God is constantly at work in our lives, changing us into his likeness. In Moses' encounter with God at the burning bush, we see four distinct phases in the progress of a man changing his mind, as he comes into his part in God's plan.
A nation needs to be saved. God's plan is a man.
We give not just because it is necessary, and it is, but because it is good for us, drawing us closer to the heart of God.
The return of the exiles is a major Bible narrative; not just in the history of Israel but in every human heart. God's promise and our response lead to a "highway" back to God.
Where God's presence is, so too is his power.
